I was flooded with thoughts of responsibility and a sense of commitment. It seemed challenging to meet upto the expectations of the stake holders.
The best thing about being a Teacher -Leader?
We become the guiding force /mentor to all who come under our tutelage, which includes parents, staff and of course the children. It is wonderful to spot the right person among the staff, with zest and enthusiasm coupled with a thirst for learning and making leaders of them. It is great to see them also shine as Principals.
What are the traits of an effective Principal?
An effective Principal needs to have a holistic approach. He/she should have the acumen to see all the facets of any situation. He also needs to have the foresight to extrapolate the future developments in the educational scenario. Tact is required in handling sensitive issues. Poise and elan puts us on a better platform to perform our responsibilities with ease.
Please describe the role you feel parents should play in the operation of the school?
Parents are also important stakeholders in the functioning of the school. Parents should have a positive approach and help their children grow up in a healthy environment at home. This would automatically augment the child’s progress in the school.
When you visit a classroom, what are the first things you look for as signs that the classroom is an effective learning place?
It is very important that the children feel safe and secure. The best learning happens when there is bonhomie between students and teachers. Classroom management should be par excellence, which would in turn create a perfect learning ambience for the children.
What is your vision on special education?
We need to identify children who require special education. This should be followed by a structured learning programme which would eventually help in integrating them into the regular stream. Parents and staff need to work together to meet the needs of these children.

With Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning being the order of the day, it is imperative that students be given an excellent platform to meet the demands of 21st century learning. They should get hands on experience of e- learning.

When our children return to us and speak of their achievements and success in their lives, it kindles a sense of satisfaction and achievement in us also. It is almost like their joy and success becomes ours too.
